Update: Troops Rescue Gen Rabe’s Wife from Bandit Captivity After Sustained Forest Operation

Troops have successfully rescued Amina Rabe, the wife of the late General Abubakar Rabe, after she was abducted alongside her husband during a recent bandit attack.

The rescue was carried out on Monday following sustained military offensives targeting criminal hideouts in Matazu Forest and neighbouring communities.

Security sources said the operation followed days of coordinated assaults launched from Sunday through the early hours of Monday, during which several bandits’ camps were destroyed and dislodged.

The offensive involved a joint task force made up of personnel of the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Police Force, working in close coordination.

According to the sources, the sustained pressure from the security agencies forced the kidnappers to abandon their positions, leading to the successful extraction of Mrs. Rabe from captivity.

The late General Abubakar Rabe had been abducted alongside his wife in a recent attack that triggered public concern and renewed calls for stronger security operations in affected areas.

While Mrs. Rabe has now been rescued, security authorities had yet to issue an official statement confirming the details of the operation as of the time of filing this report.

Further updates are expected as military and intelligence agencies continue clearance operations in the affected forest zones believed to still harbour criminal elements.
