A stakeholders’ meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State was reportedly disrupted by violence on Tuesday after Tempo (Temple) Mudi, the Senior Special Assistant on Protocol to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, was allegedly attacked by a group of youths.
The incident reportedly occurred at the APC stakeholders’ meeting in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area, where party leaders and supporters had gathered for deliberations.
According to eyewitness accounts and videos circulating on social media, the unrest began after Mudi reportedly made comments praising the administration of President Bola Tinubu. The remarks allegedly sparked an altercation that quickly escalated into physical violence.
Unconfirmed reports claimed the governor’s aide was beaten by the aggrieved youths, while some accounts alleged he sustained stab injuries during the chaos. He was reportedly rushed from the venue for medical attention. However, the extent of his injuries has not been officially confirmed.
Meanwhile, the Delta State chapter of the APC has denied reports that the meeting turned violent, insisting the gathering was peaceful and dismissing claims of an attack as misleading.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Delta State Government nor the Nigeria Police Force had issued an official statement confirming the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault or whether any suspect had been arrested.
