Nigerian comedian and content creator, Debo Adebayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, has opened up about the financial difficulties he experienced in recent years and disclosed how some prominent personalities supported him through the challenging period.
Mr Macaroni made the disclosure in an emotional post on X while reacting to testimonies from people who recalled various acts of kindness he had shown them over the years.
The entertainer said he was moved to tears after reading the accounts, many of which he said he could no longer remember.
He explained that he had always been more comfortable giving than receiving and often found it difficult to ask people for help because many assumed he was financially comfortable.
According to him, his financial situation became so difficult in recent years that he had to seek assistance from several people and was at one point “on the verge of giving it all up.”
Mr Macaroni revealed that an unnamed individual repeatedly helped him settle his debts during the difficult period.
He declined to disclose the person’s identity, saying the individual would be upset if he did so, but described the intervention as a major source of hope when he felt everything was over.
The skitmaker also expressed appreciation to his close friends and specifically mentioned music executive Don Jazzy, football star Victor Osimhen and Pastor Bolaji for supporting him.
He said Don Jazzy had been helping him financially since his university days and continued to support him.
“To Don Jazzy, who has been giving me since my university days up till now, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you do, not just for me but for so many others,” he said.
Mr Macaroni also thanked Osimhen and Pastor Bolaji, although he did not disclose the specific amounts or forms of assistance they provided.
Despite his financial struggles, the comedian said he had no regrets about helping others.
He said the difficult experiences had taught him important lessons and given him greater clarity, adding that he was now in a better place and focused on doing things that made him happy.
Mr Macaroni’s comments followed renewed public attention to his generosity after veteran actor Peter Fatomilola recounted how the comedian gave him ₦200,000 after a movie shoot and later paid him ₦1 million for a single scene in another production.
