Update: NDLEA Moves to Seize Pretty Mike’s Nightclub Over Lagos Drug Party

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has filed a forfeiture case against Proxy Night Club in Victoria Island, Lagos, owned by socialite Mike Nwogu, popularly known as Pretty Mike, following a weekend raid on an alleged drug party.

NDLEA operatives stormed the club between 11 p.m. on Saturday and 3 a.m. on Sunday, arresting over 100 guests, including Pretty Mike and the club’s manager, after undercover agents infiltrated the premises and confirmed the sale and use of illicit substances. About 385 kilograms of Canadian Loud and other drugs were reportedly recovered from the club’s storage area.

Speaking during the NDLEA’s annual commendation ceremony in Abuja, Chairman and Chief Executive, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd.), said the agency will not tolerate impunity within the entertainment industry. He warned that properties used for drug-related activities will be seized and that the Lagos nightclub will serve as an example.

“In Nigeria, possession or use of drugs in persons or premises is illegal. We will not allow a culture of impunity to take root,” Marwa stated.

The NDLEA boss also highlighted the agency’s progress in the past 30 months, including 45,853 arrests, 9,263 convictions, and rehabilitation of 26,613 drug users, alongside over 8.5 million kilogrammes of illicit substances seized nationwide.
