In a major boost to cultural tourism in the region, the Delta State Chapter of the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN) has officially announced its endorsement of and partnership for the upcoming 3rd edition of the annual Indigenous Arts Festival.
Scheduled to take place from September 25 to 27, 2026, the three-day cultural extravaganza will be hosted at the iconic Indigenous Cultural Centre (ICC), located within the Delta State Film Village in Asaba.
This year’s festival, which centers on rich heritage, creative expressions, and environmental sustainability, has drawn immense stakeholder interest. The collaboration with FTAN Delta State marks a strategic milestone, aligning private-sector tourism expertise with community-driven cultural preservation.
In a letter signed by Engr. Chibuikem Diala, Delta state coordinator, FTAN, noted that the festival serves as a powerful catalyst for boosting local hospitality, eco-tourism, and creative enterprise in Delta State.
By drawing artists, tourists, and cultural enthusiasts from across the country and beyond, the event is expected to significantly stimulate the state’s service and hospitality sectors.
The Festival promises a diverse line-up of activities designed to celebrate the victims of the 1967 Asaba massacre.
Attendees can look forward to immersive sessions of traditional African knowledge systems featuring traditional music, energetic traditional dancing, immersive fireside storytelling, and extensive art and craft exhibitions.
Additionally, the program will feature specialized workshops focusing on sustainable living, green practices, and traditional arts and crafts, aligning with the venue’s eco-friendly ethos.
With FTAN’s official backing, organizers anticipate heightened participation, robust institutional support, and an elevated profile for Asaba as a premier destination for cultural and eco-tourism in Nigeria.
