Employees Face Allegations of Stealing N5 Million from Lagos Pharmacy

On Tuesday, two supervisors, Paul Ipadeola and Martins Chibuzor, along with cashiers Anuoluwapo Babalola and Dorcas Abimbola, were brought before the Ikeja Chief Magistrate Court in Ogba. They stand accused of stealing N5 million from their employer, Health Rite Pharmacy and Supermarket on Ogunnusi Road, Ojodu Berger, Lagos State, between January and August 2023. These allegations resulted in two charges of conspiracy and stealing.

According to ASP Akeem Raji, the theft came to light during an audit of the company’s accounts. When questioned, the defendants could not provide a satisfactory explanation for the missing funds. These actions are in violation of Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Despite the charges, the defendants pleaded not guilty. Chief Magistrate Bola Osunsanmi granted each defendant bail in the amount of N500,000, requiring two sureties each to post the same bail amount. The case is scheduled for mention on October 23.
