A 50-year-old self-styled prophet and overseer of Divine Grace Church in Ibillo, Edo State, has been arrested by the police over allegations of abducting five girls and impregnating a 15-year-old girl.
The suspect, identified as Nicholas Nusa, was reportedly taken into custody following allegations concerning the girls.
The Edo State Police Command disclosed the arrest, with its spokesperson, ASP Eno Ikoedem, confirming that the case was under investigation.
According to the allegations, the cleric was involved in the disappearance of five girls, while one of the victims, a 15-year-old, was allegedly impregnated.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged abductions and the relationship between the suspect and the victims are expected to form part of the police investigation.
The police have not indicated that the allegations have been proven in court, and the suspect remains entitled to the presumption of innocence until otherwise established by a competent court.
