Many injured as bandits attack Owo community again

Owo community in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State was on Wednesday evening attacked by unknown gunmen.

This came seven weeks after some suspected terrorists attacked St. Francis Catholic Church in the community, killing no fewer than 40 worshippers.

A source in the community said the hoodlums opened fire at Folahami Junction, where a construction company called Craneburg Construction Company was located, and opened fire on everybody at sight. Some said some explosives devices were also used during the attack.

However, the casualty figure has not been ascertained as at the time of filing this report but many people were said to be injured in the attack.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the command , Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami confirmed the incident but said some people were injured . She also said it could not be confirmed yet if the attackers are terrorists or mere bandits.

She said, ” Tonight, there was a shooting incident at Craneburg Construction Company Owo, Policemen are currently at the scene, victims have been taken to Hospital and they are in stable condition.

” We can not ascertain the casualty figure now and we also cannot say it was a terrorists’ attack with the use of explosives devices but tomorrow( Thursday ) morning , the EOD men of the command would go to the scene.”
