The Bariga Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State has announced the renaming of several major roads and landmarks within the council, including the popular Charly Boy bus stop, which has now been renamed Baddo Bus Stop in honour of Nigerian music star Olamide Adedeji.
The announcement was made by the outgoing Chairman of Bariga LCDA, Hon. Kolade David Alabi, on Friday, July 25, 2025—his final day in office. The event coincided with the commissioning of landmark projects carried out under his administration, which were formally unveiled by Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Alabi, who also served as the Chairman of Conference 57, the umbrella body for council chairmen in Lagos, said the renaming was a deliberate effort to celebrate individuals who have brought global attention to Bariga and contributed significantly to the development of the council, state, and country.
“As an administration, we took our time to reflect on a number of people who have put the name of our local council on the global map through their God-given talents and craft, as well as eminent personalities in our nation, beloved state, and council who have contributed immensely to the development of the nation and the state,” Alabi said.
The newly renamed roads and landmarks include:
Ilaje Road renamed King Sunny Ade Road
Bariga Road renamed Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way
Community Road (Akoka) renamed Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu Road
Ajidagan Street renamed Olamide Adedeji (Baddo) Street
Charly Boy Bus Stop renamed Baddo Bus Stop
Ifeanyi Street renamed Abolore Akande (9ice) Street
Ayodele Street, Ladi-Lak renamed Tony Tetuila Street
Ilojo Crescent, Obanikoro renamed Bukayo Saka Street
The renaming, according to Alabi, is intended to preserve the legacies of these figures and serve as a source of inspiration to residents and future generations.
