Former Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, has been thrown into mourning following the death of her husband, Anthony Adeniyi (Niyi) Adeosun, who passed away in Lagos at the age of 62.
According to a statement issued by the Adeosun family, Mr. Adeosun died on Wednesday, August 5, after living a life the family described as one marked by integrity, faith, and dedicated service.
The announcement, signed by Reverend C. A. Adeosun on behalf of the family, expressed profound grief over the loss while affirming their submission to the will of God.
“We announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and brother with profound sorrow, yet in total submission to the will of Almighty God,” the statement read.
The family described the late Anthony Adeosun as a respected businessman and devoted Christian whose generosity, honesty, and unwavering faith positively impacted everyone who knew him. They added that he lived a life of hard work, commitment to God, and selfless service to his family and community.
He is survived by his wife, former Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun, his children, siblings—including Adewale Adeosun, founder of Kuramo Capital—and several other relatives, friends, and associates.
Drawing strength from the Bible, the family cited Revelation 14:13, expressing hope that the deceased now rests from his earthly labours and that his good works will continue to be remembered.
The Adeosun family also appealed for privacy as they mourn their loved one, noting that details of the funeral and Christian burial arrangements will be announced at a later date.
They thanked friends, associates, and well-wishers for their prayers, condolences, and support, while praying for the peaceful repose of Anthony Adeosun’s soul.
