Kwara State government, yesterday ordered indefinite closure of 10 public/grant-aided missions schools in Ilorin, the state capital over hijab controversy. Several homes belonging to Jehovah’s Witnesses numbering up to 20, were raided by security operatives in Moscow on Wednesday, in an ongoing crackdown on the US-based religious movement. Moscow outlawed the Jehovah’s Witnesses in 2017, labelling it an extremist organisation and has since sentenced several members to lengthy jail terms.
