Bashir El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has publicly accused his elder brother, Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, of abusing cocaine and alcohol.
Mohammed Bello El-Rufai is a member of the House of Representatives representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency.
Bashir made the allegations in a series of posts on X on Saturday morning, where he launched a scathing attack against the lawmaker.
In one of the posts, Bashir alleged that his brother had a white substance around his nostrils and accused him of preferring alcohol and cocaine.
He wrote:
“I have a useless excuse for a brother, with his bony-ass face coated with an unknown white substance around his nostrils every night.
“That is your member in the House, representing a whole populace, but prefers alcohol and cocaine. Yes, you.”
The post generated reactions from some of Bashir’s followers, with some urging him to resolve the alleged family dispute privately rather than taking it to social media.
One X user, @cryptogeekng, responded: “If you are referring to your blood brother, you must be the one on colos. Settle out of court and social media.”
Bashir dismissed the comment and maintained that it was his brother who was allegedly abusing drugs.
“He’s the one on colos, actually, and a diet of cocaine and whiskey,” he replied.
The allegations have not been independently verified, and the statements should therefore be regarded as claims made by Bashir El-Rufai.
As of the time of reporting, there was no publicly available response from Mohammed Bello El-Rufai addressing his younger brother’s allegations.
The public exchange has drawn attention because of the political profile of the El-Rufai family, with Mohammed Bello currently serving in the National Assembly and his father, Nasir El-Rufai, having previously served as Kaduna State governor.
