N34 million spent daily on prisoners’ feeding -Prison Service

The Nigerian Prisons Service (NPS) has disclosed that the Federal Government spends N33,878,700 daily to feed prisoners nationwide. The Public Relations Officer of the Abia State Command of the service, Ikpe Linus Kalu, who made disclosure yesterday at a workshop in Umuahia, submitted that the prisoners were being fed thrice daily at N450. A tricyclist who veered into train tracks was yesterday crushed by an Abule Egba bound train alongside his 3 passengers. 27 Women sentenced to jail for prostitution

27 women were on Monday sentenced to one month imprisonment by a mobile court in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, for prostitution. The convicts, who were arrested last Wednesday and Thursday, were, however, given an option of N3,000 fine each. Manufacturers of codeine-based cough syrup who had their products withdrawn from circulation in the wake of the 2018  BBC documentary about the nationwide abuse of the drug, are set to be compensated by the Federal Government.
