Tragedy as Two Brothers Drown in Kuje River

A tragedy struck the Robukya community in Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory on Saturday when two brothers drowned while attempting to cross a swollen river.

The victims, identified as Joshua and Samson, aged 9 and 12, were said to be on their way to the family farm at about 9:23 a.m. when they were swept away by strong currents.

A relative, Barnabas Iliya, said the river had overflowed its banks following heavy rainfall earlier in the day. According to him, the boys’ father had warned them to wait until the rain subsided, but they left for the farm without his knowledge.

Their bodies were recovered around 3 p.m. with the help of local fishermen.

The police in the area have confirmed the incident.
