Rescue Efforts Underway for Missing Firefighters in Izmir Helicopter Crash

On Sunday, Turkish scuba divers were searching for three firefighters who had gone missing after their helicopter crashed into a water reservoir near the western resort city of Izmir. The helicopter crashed while trying to collect water to extinguish a forest fire on Saturday night.

The helicopter crew consisted of three Kyrgyz nationals and one Turkish citizen. Fortunately, one of the Kyrgyz nationals was rescued and is currently in good condition in the hospital. Agriculture and Forestry Minister Ibrahim Yumakli mentioned that the divers have located the wreckage, but due to poor visibility, they are unable to see it clearly at the moment.
