Man sells 9-year-old son for N400k “due to hard times” in Akwa Ibom

In Akwa Ibom State, the Police Command has arrested Gabriel Okon Ekpiri, a resident of Ekit Itam Akpan Obong community in Itu Local Government Area, for selling his nine-year-old son for N400,000.

The arrest was made by the Quick Intervention Squad of the Command. The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Odiko Macdon, revealed that during interrogation, the suspect admitted to the crime and attributed his actions to the influence of the devil and the economic hardship prevailing in the country.

The Commissioner of Police, Olatoye Durosinmi, condemned the actions of Gabriel Okon Ekpiri, emphasizing the gravity of the offense.

In other news, the Commissioner of Police decorated two Deputy Commissioners of Police, DCP Baba Lawan Audu of the Eket Area Command, and DCP Lawal Isa Mani from the Department of Operations.

The Commissioner conveyed the Acting Inspector General of Police’s congratulations to the officers and urged them to enhance their productivity while fulfilling their deputy roles.
