Abba Kyari granted bail after 18-months in detention

Suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, has been granted bail by the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The bail was granted by Justice James Omotosho in a case where Kyari and his two siblings were accused of failing to declare assets to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

The bail conditions include a sum of N50 million, two sureties with property worth N25 million each within the court’s jurisdiction, the deposit of international passports and bank statements, and the endorsement of the release warrant depending on developments in another drug-related case.

The judge found no evidence to suggest that Kyari was a flight risk or would not attend his trial. The court adjourned further hearing to October 18.
