40 Illegal Coal Miners Arrested by NSCDC in Enugu State

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) apprehended around 40 individuals suspected of engaging in illegal coal mining in Enugu.

The Commandant, Mr. Muhammed Dada, disclosed that the operation, which took place on August 24th, resulted in the seizure of equipment like pumping machines, diggers, shovels, and unregistered Hanvan G7 trucks.

The NSCDC’s intelligence unit conducted the successful raid based on a tip-off, underscoring the agency’s responsibility to safeguard essential national assets. Dada emphasized that those involved in illegal mining would face consequences, while legal operators would be treated according to the law. The NSCDC seeks collaboration from citizens and urges residents to help curb these activities by providing information.
