Yusuf Buhari, son of former President Muhammadu Buhari, has formally declared his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.
Yusuf Buhari announced his bid on Thursday in Daura, stating that he would run on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to represent the Daura/Sandamu/Mai’adua Federal Constituency.
The declaration came shortly after he paid a visit to Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, on Wednesday to seek political backing for his ambition.
Addressing party stakeholders and supporters during the meeting, Yusuf Buhari appealed for their support, pledging to deliver effective representation if elected.
“I am here to seek your support, and I assure you that if elected, I will do my best and will never disappoint you, God willing,” he said, while thanking party members for their continued loyalty and commitment.
Speaking at the gathering, the Dan Madamin Daura and District Head of Dumurkol, Musa Haro, also canvassed support for the aspirant, describing him as a worthy candidate.
“We are here to ask for your support for our brother. We will mobilise across towns and villages and also engage other aspirants to seek their cooperation,” Haro said, noting that politics requires collective effort and understanding.
Yusuf Buhari was accompanied to the event by a former lawmaker who represented the constituency, Fatuhu Muhammad, alongside other family members and political associates.
The Daura/Sandamu/Mai’adua Federal Constituency seat is currently represented by Aminu Jamo, who, according to stakeholders, has made notable contributions during his tenure.
Yusuf Buhari’s entry into the race is expected to reshape the political dynamics in the constituency as the 2027 elections approach.
