Rochas Okorocha Arrested in Abuja Over Alleged Forgery, Released on Bail

Former Imo State Governor and Senator, Rochas Okorocha, has been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force over allegations of criminal conspiracy, forgery and impersonation.

Okorocha was reportedly arrested on Monday night at REIZ Continental Hotel in central Abuja before being released on bail after approximately one hour of interrogation.

The Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Aniete Iniedu, confirmed the arrest and subsequent release to Channels Television.

According to the police spokesperson, the former governor was directed to return to the Force Headquarters on Tuesday for further questioning as investigations into the allegations continue.

The arrest reportedly followed Okorocha’s failure to honour previous police invitations concerning the ongoing investigation.

He was initially invited to the Force Headquarters on September 2, but the appointment was reportedly rescheduled to September 8 following a request by his lawyers.

However, Okorocha allegedly failed to honour the rescheduled appointment, a development that reportedly preceded his arrest in Abuja.
