Rivers State University Lecturer Acquitted in Sexual Assault Case

In Port Harcourt, a Magistrate Court acquitted Prof. David Ogbonna, a lecturer at Rivers State University, who had been accused of sexually assaulting a 21-year-old student, Grace Ndamatin. The presiding Magistrate, Chief Magistrate Poromon Menenen, ruled that the prosecution failed to prove the sexual assault case.

Prof. Ogbonna’s lawyer, Dr. Emma Okah, expressed that they expected this outcome due to the lack of evidence. They plan to send the judgment to the university for Prof. Ogbonna’s reinstatement. The prosecuting lawyer, G.U Amanna, declined to comment on the court’s decision.
