The Rivers State Family Court has handed a 55-year-old cleric, Pastor Piler Erekwa, a seven-year prison sentence with hard labor for sexually abusing and impregnating a 15-year-old girl in Ndele community, Emuoha Local Government Area.
The presiding Chief Magistrate, Ogeh Elkanah, also ordered Pastor Erekwa to pay N500,000 to the victim’s family to cover medical expenses incurred during her pregnancy. The accused had pleaded guilty to the charge of sexual abuse filed by the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department.
