A trader, Abdulhamid Yakubu, of Bakin Dogo, was on Wednesday sentenced to receive 80 strokes of cane by a Sharia Court sitting in Magajin Gari, Kaduna State, for denying his sixth child’s paternity. The Judge, Murtala Nasir, affirmed that the child belonged to Yakubu. Nasir also ordered him to take responsibility and provide for all his children. Kano State has recorded no fewer than 29 deaths by flood while 14,244 houses were destroyed across the 44 local councils of the State this year.
