NDLEA Arrests 63-Year-Old Chinese Woman with 31kg of ‘Canadian Loud’ at Lagos Airport

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 63-year-old Chinese woman for allegedly attempting to smuggle 31 kilograms of “Canadian Loud,” a synthetic strain of cannabis, into Nigeria through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.

The suspect, identified as Ting Hung Kiong, who was said to have naturalised in Malaysia, was apprehended on Sunday, May 17, 2026, upon her arrival in Lagos from Thailand via Dubai aboard an Emirates Airline flight.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by the NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi.

According to the agency, operatives attached to the Terminal 2 Arrival Hall intercepted the suspect after discovering two large suitcases containing the illicit drug consignment weighing 31 kilograms.

The NDLEA said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect, who claimed to be a caregiver based in Malaysia, travelled from Malaysia to Thailand before proceeding to Nigeria.

“She further disclosed that she spent two weeks in Thailand before she was handed the illicit consignment at the Thailand airport to deliver in Nigeria,” the statement added.
