Fatal clash between rival cult groups in Anambra

According to reports, a clash between rival cult groups occurred in Awka, the capital of Anambra State. The incident took place around 11 AM near Ukwuoji Bus Stop, along Zik’s Avenue. The motive behind the attack is not yet fully known, but it is believed to be a battle for supremacy between the cult groups.

Eyewitnesses stated that a group of about five hoodlums arrived in a tinted glass vehicle and began shooting into the air. In the process, they gunned down two individuals suspected to be members of a rival cult. After the attack, the remaining cultists fled the scene.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, acknowledged that there were reports of shootings in the area but did not confirm the killings. Police operatives have reportedly increased patrols in Awka following the incident.
