Appeal court overturns conviction of Bala Ngilari

Former governor of Adamawa, Mr Bala Ngilari has been discharged and acquitted of corruption charges by the Yola Division of the Court of Appeal on Thursday. The court, presided by Justice Olayomi Folashade, quashed all charges against Ngilari for lack of merit and sufficient proof of allegations against him. On March 6, a Yola High Court sentenced Ngilari, to five years in prison without the option of fine on charges of financial fraud. Mohammed Abubakar, the Governor of Bauchi State, on Thursday dissolved the state executive council. However, only the Special Adviser on Security to the Governor, Brig. Gen. 33 people have been confirmed dead in fresh clashes between villagers and Fulani herdsmen in southern Kaduna.
