Six arrested over poisonous ponmo in Lagos

Six suspects have been arrested by the Lagos State police command over large quantities of poisonous cow skins popularly known as Ponmo in Lagos markets. A 57-year-old woman, Mrs. O. Ajimo, simply called Mama Gbenga, died in a scuffle with her notorious son, identified as Ayotunde Gbenga Opeyemi at oyinmo quarters, Ikare-Akoko area of Ondo state. Temidayo Akeredolu, a graduate of Insurance from The Polytechnic Ibadan, was on Friday arraigned before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court, Ibadan Division for his alleged involvement in an Internet fraud. Mechanic steals 156,000 from boss’ account to play NaijaBet

Ibrahim Adebowale, an apprentice mechanic in the Mushin area of Lagos state, has been arrested by police, for allegedly withdrawing a sum of N156,000 from his boss’ bank account. It was learnt that the boss, Akinyemi Benjamin, had given the suspect his Automated Teller Machine card to help him withdraw N20,000. Adebowale, 24, was said to have cleared N156,000 in his boss’ account and made away with it. Man arraigned for allegedly spending $59,220 erroneously credited to his account

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested one James Olaoluwaniyi, for allegedly converting to personal use the sum of $59,220 erroneously transferred into his account by the Sterling Bank where he is a customer. Olaoluwaniyi subsequently sued the EFCC, pleading unlawful detention; while he also asked for a cost of N50,000 against the commission. Three arrested over kidnap, murder of two Bureau de Change operators

Three suspected members of a robbery/ kidnap gang, who abducted and murdered two Bureau de Change operators last month, in Ikorodu area of Lagos have been arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, Lagos State Police command. The district head of Daura, Alhaji Musa Umar, has been kidnapped by four unidentified gunmen. 27 women were on Monday sentenced to one month imprisonment by a mobile court in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, for prostitution. The convicts, who were arrested last Wednesday and Thursday, were, however, given an option of N3,000 fine each.
