The abducted son of the immediate past Minister of Health, Prof  Isaac Adewole, Dayo, has been released. Dayo was released barely 24 hours after he was kidnapped on his farm in  Iroko near Fiditi in Afijio Local Government Area of Oyo State on Tuesday. Chanchal Lahiri, an magician has drowned while trying to replicate an underwater Houdini-inspired stunt — tying himself up with chains and ropes and being lowered into a river, Indian police said. Man sentenced to 10 strokes of Cane for stealing logs of wood

A 32-year-old carpenter, Abba Sa’idu was on Tuesday sentenced to 10 strokes of the cane for stealing two logs of wood by a Sharia Court in Magajin Gari, Kaduna. The judge, Dahiru Lawal, also ordered Sa’idu to wash the restroom of the court after he pleaded guilty to theft. Earlier, the convict said that he stole the wood to make a wardrobe for a tailor. A 6.5-magnitude earthquake has occurred in the Sea of Japan. The powerful jolt triggered a tsunami warning across the island nation.
