Doris Ogala and Pastor Chris Okafor
Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos over allegations of cyberstalking, cyberbullying and attempted extortion involving popular cleric, Pastor Chris Okafor.
The actress was arraigned before the Federal High Court in Lagos on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, following charges filed by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation.
Justice Akintayo Aluko ordered her remand pending the hearing and determination of her bail application.
According to the prosecution, Ogala allegedly published intimate photographs of the cleric on social media without his consent and circulated electronic messages and recordings containing information she allegedly knew to be false.
The prosecution further accused her of threatening to publish additional damaging material about Okafor unless he compensated her or bought her a house.
The alleged offences were said to have occurred between September 2024 and March 2026 and were brought under the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Amendment Act, 2024.
Ogala, however, pleaded not guilty to the allegations.
Her lawyer, N. C. Atulomah, urged the court to grant her bail, assuring the judge that she would attend subsequent proceedings. He also drew attention to her status as a governorship candidate in Abia State.
The prosecution opposed her immediate release, explaining that it needed time to respond to the bail application.
In his ruling, Justice Aluko held that the defence had not presented sufficient grounds to justify her immediate release. He nevertheless directed that the bail application be heard expeditiously.
The court adjourned the case until Friday, October 30, 2026, for the hearing of the bail application.
The legal dispute between Ogala and Okafor became public in December 2025 after the actress made allegations concerning their alleged romantic relationship. Ogala had claimed that she was involved with the pastor for several years, a claim that became a subject of public discussion following reports of his engagement to another woman.
