NDLEA Arrests Businesswoman with 7.5kg Cocaine Hidden in Luggage at Lagos Airport

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a 38-year-old businesswoman, identified as Iwebema Ogechi Peace, for allegedly attempting to traffic 7.5 kilogrammes of cocaine through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos.

The suspect was apprehended on June 21, 2026, at the airport’s departure hall while preparing to board a Qatar Airways flight to Beijing, China, following credible intelligence received by the anti-drug agency.

According to the NDLEA, Iwebema, who claimed she regularly travelled to China to buy goods for resale in Nigeria, was subjected to a search after her arrest.

During the inspection, operatives allegedly discovered four large parcels of cocaine weighing a total of 7.5kg concealed inside a professionally constructed false bottom in her checked luggage.
The suspect remains in NDLEA custody as investigations continue.

The agency has not yet disclosed whether other suspects connected to the alleged drug trafficking operation have been identified.
