Troops of the Joint Task Force, North East, under Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have arrested a 65-year-old woman, Hauwa Abulazeez, over alleged involvement in supplying illicit drugs to Boko Haram terrorists in Borno State.
The suspect was apprehended during Operation DESERT SANITY V in Askira Uba Local Government Area, where she is believed to have played a key role in supplying cannabis sativa to terrorist elements operating across several communities, including Askira Uba, Rumirgo, Gwahi, Wamdiyo, Uvu and Gaya.
According to the military, Abulazeez allegedly served as a major distribution conduit for the illicit substance within the operational theatre, aiding the logistics and sustenance of Boko Haram fighters.
Confirming the arrest, the Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, Lt. Col. Sani Uba, described the development as a significant breakthrough in efforts to dismantle terrorist support networks in the North East.
Uba said the operation was part of sustained military actions aimed at weakening terrorist groups by disrupting their supply chains and logistical networks.
He disclosed that investigations revealed the suspect allegedly sourced the drugs from Sarti Baruwa Local Government Area of Taraba State before transporting them through established routes for distribution.
“The suspect was arrested on January 23, 2026, in Askira Uba Local Government Area and is currently in custody undergoing preliminary investigation,” Uba said.
