A boutique owner, identified as Godwin Emeka, has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, after he allegedly excreted 127 wraps of cocaine.
According to NDLEA sources, Emeka was intercepted during the outward clearance of passengers on a flight to Doha, Qatar, when his behavior raised suspicion. He was subsequently taken in for observation, during which he reportedly excreted the cocaine pellets over a period of several hours.
Investigators said the suspect, who claimed to own a boutique in Lagos, confessed that he had agreed to traffic the illicit drugs for a fee. The wraps, weighing several kilograms in total, were carefully packed to evade detection by security scanners.
NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, confirmed the arrest, noting that Emeka’s case highlights the agency’s sustained efforts to curb drug trafficking through Nigeria’s airports.
“The suspect is in custody and will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded,” Babafemi stated.
He added that NDLEA operatives have intensified surveillance at all entry and exit points across the country to prevent drug syndicates from using Nigerians as couriers.
