Woman Goes on the Run After Allegedly Killing Husband with Pestle in Ondo

The Ondo State Police Command has initiated a search for Mrs. Tayelolu Solomon, a middle-aged woman, after she allegedly killed her husband, Mr. Felix Solomon, in Ondo town. The tragic incident occurred at their residence in the Government Reserved Area of the community when Tayelolu purportedly struck her 67-year-old husband with a pestle while he was sleeping.

Before the incident, there had been ongoing tension in their marriage. Ibukun Solomon, the son of the deceased, was an eyewitness to the event and confirmed that his mother struck his father’s head with the pestle and then fled the scene. He revealed that an earlier argument had escalated into a physical altercation between his parents. Following the fight, his father retired to a chair, where his mother reportedly carried out the fatal assault.

Ibukun recounted, “My mother killed my father with a pestle in my presence and took to her heels. She used the pestle to hit his head when he was asleep.” After the attack, his father lost consciousness and fell from where he had been sleeping. His mother struck his head with the pestle three times, leading to his eventual demise. In a panic, she hid the pestle behind their house and fled.

Ibukun sought help from nearby residents, who rushed his father to the hospital, but unfortunately, he could not be saved. The deceased, survived by three children, including Ibukun, is now in the morgue.

The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the incident and stated that the police are actively pursuing the suspect, who is currently on the run. She added that the victim was quickly transported to the hospital after the attack but sadly passed away.
