Trailer and Bus Accident Leaves Edo Community in Mourning

In Okpella, Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State, a tragic accident involving a trailer and a commercial bus claimed the lives of at least five individuals on Monday evening. The incident occurred when the trailer, coming from the Lokoja-Okene road, experienced a brake failure and collided with a fully occupied Toyota bus.

An eyewitness revealed that the collision resulted in the unfortunate deaths of five passengers, whose bodies were subsequently transported to the mortuary. Injured individuals were rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.

Meanwhile, Hon. Benedicta Attoh, the Chairman of Etsako East Local Government, extended her condolences to the victims’ families and the Okpella community. In a statement issued by her Chief Press Secretary, Ben Atu, she expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident and offered prayers for the swift recovery of the injured.

Attoh’s statement read, “We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of our departed brothers and sisters. Their untimely death has undoubtedly caused great pain to their families, and I pray that such tragedy will never occur again. May God grant the families and loved ones the strength to bear this irreparable loss, and may the souls of the departed rest in peace.”
