Teenage Armed Robbers Apprehended in Warri’s ‘Shawarma’ Joint Raid

Three teenagers suspected of being armed robbers were apprehended by the Delta State Police Command during a raid on their ‘Shawarma’ joint base at Enerhen Junction in Warri. Two male gang members were arrested, and one teenage suspect named Gift Peace was nabbed at a Suya spot.

The Divisional Police Officer of ‘B’ Division, Warri, received a distress call about an armed robbery operation and led an intelligence-led operation that resulted in the arrest of a 14-year-old suspect.

During interrogation, the 14-year-old confessed to being a member of an armed robbery gang operating in Warri since he was seven years old. He provided information about other gang members and their hideouts.

When the police confronted the gang members, they opened fire from their unregistered tricycle. In the ensuing exchange, the gang’s leader was fatally shot, and the others escaped.

Exhibits recovered from the suspects included their operational tricycle, a locally made single-barrel gun with expended cartridges, and live cartridges.

The state Commissioner of Police stressed the importance of responsible parenting in preventing children from engaging in criminal activities, emphasizing the need for parents to monitor and educate their children to steer clear of bad influences and criminal behavior.
