Suspected firearms supplier, others arrested in FCT

A suspected firearms supplier, Matthew Vaaswem, 30, who supplies guns to suspected kidnap syndicates operating along Tungan Maje in the FCT and Gawu axis of Niger State, has been arrested by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command.

Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Yusuf Mariam, who disclosed this, said the suspect, who confessed to the crime, was arrested at Tipper-Garage, Gwagwalada by operatives of Gwagwalada Division.

She said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect belongs to a gunrunning syndicate, adding that effort is on to arrest the fleeing suspects.

Mariam said exhibits recovered from the suspect were two single barrel dane guns and two locally fabricated short guns.

She said the suspect would be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigations.
