SCCWI Marks Yet Another Children’s Day Annual Feeding Program

The 2021 edition of the Annual
Children’s day program organised by Street Child Care and Welfare Initiative (SCCWI), took another dimension this year with safety regulations in place in light of the Covid 19 pandemic, but didn’t stop short of being another successful event to remember.

The annual feeding program took the NGO to various parts of Lagos State including Oshodi, Mushin, Okobaba in Ebute Meta, Opic, several slum communities in Iddo and Ikorodu amongst others as well as the Juvenile welfare centre, Alakara and Special correctional centre Oregun.

According to the Project Director of SCCWI, Ms. Comfort Alli, this year’s edition was exceptional despite the initial difficulties faced in raising the needed funds and resources to feed the initial 1500 children targeted for the program. She further stated that over 1700 children were eventually reached with several food items and drinks, hygiene kits, books and pens as well as water bottles.

Mrs. Janet Olabisi Williams, a community leader in one of the 5 communities reached in Iddo, appreciated the NGO and remarks that no other organization has ever been able to reach all 5 communities in any type of distribution she was full of joy. She further stated that organisers always run out of supplies because they underestimate the number of children living in the slums .

Street Child Care and Welfare Initiative (SCCWI) has been prioritizing the needs of street and vulnerable children for over 13 years. This years edition of the children’s day programme ended on a successful note with donations coming from several corporate sponsors, individuals and friends of the NGO.
