Road users lament as weeds take over Ibadan Expressway

Concerned motorists and other road users have expressed concerns over the uncompleted Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, after so many years.

A concerned citizen by the name, F.O, in a viral message wrote:

“It was disheartening to see that there are weeds growing in the inner edge and thick bushes between the to/fro median of the road, already! 😳
Haba!

“Our well known lack of a maintenance culture again!
We like to appropriate money for projects, loot a good percentage of it, utilize the balance over a long period of time, revise the cost upwards, and finally launch the completion with fanfare, only to let it degrade or sometimes rot away due to lack of maintenance!

“Even if we are the richest country on earth, for how long can we afford to round trip expenses and waste resources like this?!

“When there are many other areas crying for attention!
What kind of people are we?

“For how long can we continue to ignore otherwise simple issues until they become big problems?”

He however called on the Federal Ministry of Works (Highway Division) to please, address the problem, while appealing to netizens that are also concerned about our legendary lack of a maintenance culture in any area of our National life, to assist assist in spreading the message to alert relevant authorities for speedy action.
