Osun State Polytechnic, Iree Shuts Down Amid Rectorship Dispute

The Osun State Government has ordered the immediate closure of the State Polytechnic, Iree due to a rectorship dispute. This dispute arose when Dr. Tajudeen Odetayo, who had been suspended as the Rector, obtained a court injunction to prevent the government from taking further action against him. He resumed his duties with the support of one faction of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP).

In response to the situation and to maintain peace on the campus, the state government has directed both staff and students to go on a two-week break. Additionally, the government has frozen the institution’s account. The dispute appears to be ongoing, and further developments may arise during this break period.
