Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission Dismisses Allegations of Misappropriation and Political Donations, Calls for Evidence to Support Claims.

The management of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has refuted baseless accusations made by the workers’ union. The allegations included misappropriation of N10 billion virement and N4 billion donations to political parties for 2023 general election campaigns.

In response to the claims, the regulatory agency challenged the accusers to provide concrete evidence to support their allegations and make the details of the alleged wrongdoings public.

The NUPRC also denied any wasteful spending on sensitization workshops and office renovations, asserting that the union is attempting to tarnish the reputation of its Chief Executive, Gbenga Komolafe, and undermine his commendable accomplishments.

Furthermore, the commission defended recent recruitments, stating that they were conducted in full compliance with all procedures and obtained compliance certificates from relevant agencies.

The commission urged the public to disregard the unfounded allegations, attributing them to political interests seeking to replace the current management.
