Nigerian Navy confiscate 10,000kg of cannabis in Lagos

The Nigerian Navy (NN) announced that it has seized more than 200 bags of cannabis weighing 10,000 kilograms in the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos State. The interception was made possible through the utilization of Falcon Eye, a cutting-edge maritime awareness domain facility technology.

Commander Kolawole Oguntuga of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Beecroft stated that the interception occurred on July 3, 2023. He explained that the Falcon Eye technology detected the activities of criminals transferring bags of cannabis from boats to the land.

Upon identifying the situation, the naval patrol teams swiftly took action to prevent the criminals from escaping. The criminals fled upon sighting the navy personnel, but the authorities were able to confiscate over 200 bags of cannabis.

Commander Oguntuga emphasized that due process will be followed by handing over the illegal substance to the appropriate agency. He also assured that the cannabis will be handled in accordance with standard procedures.

Under the leadership of Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), the Nigerian Navy is determined to ensure that criminals face appropriate punishment. Commander Oguntuga expressed gratitude for the unwavering support received in their mission to create a crime-free nation.
