Edo State Police Arrest 53 Suspects in Crackdown on Cult Activities, Commissioner Issues Stern Warning


The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Dankwara, revealed on Thursday that a total of 53 individuals have been apprehended in connection with cult-related activities in the state. This announcement came amidst an alarming surge in secret cult activities and killings, prompting the police to take decisive action.

Dankwara issued a stern warning to both citizens and organizations, urging them to refrain from supporting cult groups by providing any form of assistance to their illicit activities. He emphasized that the police are committed to curbing the activities of these criminal elements.

The arrests were made following strategic operations conducted by the anti-cultism, anti-kidnapping, and cybercrime units of the police, in collaboration with the Edo State Security Network. Acting on credible information, they successfully apprehended the suspects in different locations.

In response to the escalating situation, the Commissioner of Police held a meeting with concerned citizens to devise effective solutions. However, the specific details of the strategies were not disclosed to the public, pending their implementation and the achievement of targeted results.

Dankwara sternly warned secret cult members to cease their activities or face the consequences, advising them to leave the state if they are unwilling to comply with the law. The police are determined to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of the people of Edo State.
