Banditry Strikes Giyawa Village in Sokoto: Four Killed, 18 Abducted

A banditry attack was confirmed in Giyawa village, Goronyo Local Government Area of the state, resulting in the tragic death of four individuals. According to Ahmed Rufai, the State Police Command Public Relations Officer, 18 people were kidnapped by the attackers, who also stole valuables, including livestock.

Fortunately, seven of the initially abducted individuals managed to escape from their captors and returned to the community, which had already seen many residents flee for safety. While some sources claim that over 30 people were abducted, the police assert that only 11 individuals remain in the hands of the assailants.

The police are actively pursuing the attackers and are working diligently to restore normalcy to the affected community.
