Arrest Made in Alleged Church Rape of Prophetess in Ogun State

A 40-year-old mason named Lekan Sunday was apprehended for allegedly raping a prophetess in a church located in Ogun State. The incident occurred last Thursday, and the police managed to arrest him on Monday. Sunday entered the Orioke Aanu Oluwa Gbohunmi church in Ilogbo Adu, Abeokuta, armed with weapons and found the prophetess asleep.

He held her at knifepoint, threatening to harm her if she resisted. Despite her pleas for help, nobody nearby came to her aid, so the prophetess begged Sunday to spare her. Despite her pleas, Sunday allegedly raped her.

After the assault, the victim went to a nearby police station to report the incident. The police initiated a manhunt for Sunday, who had fled, and eventually apprehended him on Monday. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident and mentioned that the prophetess recognized Sunday as a local mason and laborer. The preliminary investigation into the matter is ongoing.
