Amotekun arrests nine herders, impounds100 cows in Ondo

Men of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, code-named Amotekun Corps, impounded no fewer than 100 cows for breaching the anti-grazing orders of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu aimed at curbing farmers/herders clashes in the state.

The cows were arrested alongside nine herdsmen along Akure/Ilesa Road on Sunday evening after causing hiccups on the highway.

The state’s Commander of Amotekun, Mr. Adetunji Adeleye said the cows were intercepted and arrested at the boundary of Osun and Ondo states.

Adeyeye disclosed that the cows were actually blocking the major road leading to the state capital, stressing: “Apart from the possibility of illegal grazing in most cases, it is the ploy that kidnappers use.”

Also, the governor has reiterated that the state government was not ready to compromise the protection of the Ondo people and their lands amid farmer/herders clashes.

He also vowed to proscribe illegal occupants of the state forest reserves, stressing his readiness to participate in the National Livestock Transformation Programme.
