The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested the founder and General Overseer of The Turn of Mercy Church, Prophet Adefolusho Aanu Olasele, also known as Abbas Ajakaiye, over alleged cross-border drug trafficking.
Olasele was picked up on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at his church in Okun Ajah, Ogombo Road, Lekki, Lagos. NDLEA operatives, who had monitored the premises all day, waited until the conclusion of the evening service before apprehending him as he stepped out.
According to the agency, the cleric had been on the run since June after evading arrest twice. He allegedly fled to Ghana following the seizure of two major consignments of Ghana Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, linked to him. The first bust on June 4 yielded 200kg at Okun Ajah Beach, while another 700kg was recovered from his delivery van on July 6.
Olasele reportedly confessed to smuggling the drugs into Nigeria via West African waterways.
