Candidates seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions will now pay ₦4,000 only once to verify their WAEC O’Level results under a new arrangement announced by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
The two examination bodies said the new system was introduced to end repeated verification payments and reduce the financial burden on admission seekers.
Under the arrangement, candidates whose admissions are regulated by JAMB will verify their WAEC results once through the designated JAMB Verification Service platform.
Once the verification is successfully completed, the outcome will be made available to the tertiary institution where the candidate is seeking admission.
JAMB and WAEC stressed that candidates must not pay another verification fee to their chosen institutions for the same WAEC result.
Tertiary institutions have also been directed to use the verified results shared by JAMB for admission screening, processing and other administrative purposes.
The new arrangement means that candidates seeking admission into multiple institutions will no longer have to repeatedly verify the same WAEC result or pay separate verification charges to different schools.
The examination bodies said the process can be initiated remotely from a candidate’s home or any location with internet access, reducing the need for repeated visits to institutions or JAMB-approved Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres.
The initiative followed consultations between JAMB and WAEC aimed at simplifying the verification of O’Level results while maintaining the integrity and security of academic records.
Candidates have therefore been advised to complete their WAEC O’Level verification through the specified JAMB platform and retain the verification information for use during the admission process.
