UK-Based Computer Expert, Dele Oyekan, Loses Mother

Nigerian-born computer expert based in the United Kingdom, Mr. Dele Femi Oyekan, has lost his mother, Mrs. Gladys Taiye Oyekan, who died on February 3, 2026, after a brief illness in Nigeria.

Mrs. Oyekan, aged 69, was born on May 29, 1956, in Jos. She was the daughter of Pa and Mrs. Oyedola and one of nine children in the family.

Mr. Oyekan, who works with UK-based firm Priory Home and Techno Network Ltd, is the first child in a family of five and is expected to travel to Nigeria to join his siblings and their father for the burial rites.

The deceased moved to Ilorin in her early years, where she continued her education and later met her husband, Mr. Nathaniel Tunde Oyekan, at Emmanuel Baptist Church.

The couple got married in 1976 and spent about five decades together.
Mrs. Oyekan was an entrepreneur who worked alongside her husband in the printing business. Over the years, she adapted to changes in printing and design technology, transitioning from manual typewriting to computer-based graphic design.

She was a committed member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Ilorin, where she remained active until her death.

Mrs. Oyekan is survived by her husband, five children, thirteen grandchildren, and other members of her extended family.

Burial arrangements have been announced by the family. A Christian wake-keep will hold on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 22, Coca-Cola Road, Ilorin. The commendation service is scheduled for Friday, April 10, 2026, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Sabo Oke, Ilorin, followed by interment at the Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary (NBTS) Cemetery, Ogbomoso.
