Sowore Urges Obi, Soludo, Others to March to Aso Rock for Nnamdi Kanu’s Release

Former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has called on Labour Party stalwart Peter Obi, Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo, and other prominent figures from the South-East to join him in a peaceful march to Aso Rock to demand the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

Sowore made the call in a post on his official X handle on Tuesday, declaring his readiness to set aside political differences to pursue Kanu’s freedom.

“I challenge every politician or person of good conscience from the Southeast who says they want Nnamdi Kanu released to stop the rhetoric. Time for action is now. Let’s march to Aso Rock Villa,” he wrote.

He further urged key political and traditional leaders, including Soludo, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, Abia State Governor Alex Otti, and Peter Obi, to join the march.

“Every governor, senator, member of the House, traditional ruler, priest, eze, Igbo person, and every Nigerian who believes in Kanu’s freedom, come out and do more than talk. I will lead this peaceful march to the Aso Rock Villa,” he added.

Sowore stressed that the demonstration would be peaceful, legal, and aimed at demanding justice and an end to what he described as Kanu’s persecution.

Meanwhile, a Federal High Court in Abuja recently dismissed a no-case submission filed by Kanu in his ongoing trial for alleged terrorism.

Justice James Omotosho held that the prosecution had established a prima facie case against the IPOB leader, ruling that Kanu must enter his defence.

The court fixed October 8 for the receipt of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) report, after which a date will be set for the continuation of the trial.

Kanu had entered the no-case submission after the Federal Government closed its case, having called five witnesses and tendered several exhibits.
