Nigerian returnee cries out: ‘How ₦150M savings disappeared from my UBA account’

One of Nigeria’s financial institutions, United Bank for Africa, UBA may need to explain how the sum of N150 million developed wings from the account of a Nigerian who just returned to the country after his sojourn abroad .

The returnee who was devastated after discovering that over ₦150 million in his UBA (United Bank for Africa) savings account had vanished—allegedly that someone falsely claimed he was dead and accessed the funds.

According to the victim, UBA officials shockingly informed him that the funds had already been claimed by another party, based on the assertion that he was deceased and buried.

A bank-issued account statement reviewed by the man reveals a series of suspicious withdrawals that cleared out the entire savings he had built up through years of labor overseas. Despite repeated efforts to get clarity, UBA has failed to provide any information about the recipient account or the person who made the death claim.

To date, no clear explanation has been offered by the bank, and the victim continues to seek justice.

“I am alive, I was never sick, never declared dead, and nobody had my permission to touch my money,” the man stated in frustration. “UBA must return every kobo.”
